Unidentified beetles...

My girlfriend called me yesterday, and said 'grab your camera and come over', there was a nest of these critters on her fence, at first we thought they were ladybugs, but with closer examination (with my macro lens) we realized they were not. Although the size of a small ladybug, and similar coloring, are definitely not. Anyway, got a few neat shots of them, and hopefully will be able to I.D. them..

  1. Bonifer these little red and black beetles are very young stinkbugs and probably haven't been too long ago hatched as they are in a large nursery group.

  3. Great pix! And thank goodness for a reader who knows her bugs! I would never have recognized these as young stinkbugs, either…and when you get into trying to sort through beetles for a match, you might as well be looking for two identical agates on a Lake Superior beach.

  5. I would have never guessed these were stinkbugs. We have green ones here so they go pretty far north.
