Wow!! my 500th post!! and they said it wouldn't last !! ha!
we took a drive down the highway today, had a few pics in mind,
got more than I had hoped for, a great day...
This series of pics were totally for fun, 
we were going 90 km. ish...and he was coming at probably 100 km ish or more
(these trucks are plentiful and do zip along)
taken through the front window, with my macro lens actually, on sport mode,
not sure if he was watching me watching him!!
Do you ever just shoot for the fun of it ? :)

Took these the other day, they are pretty trusting when food is involved..
the bottom one is against a background of snow..but I kind of liked it..

It was a squirrel day for me...

A cool day but the sun did come out for an hour or more and I took advantage of it,
the squirrels were busy at Hershey Lake today...

Pinecones..

My daughter came over this morning with the kiddies, while she was here, she took a picture of one of my pinecones I have for peanut butter and seeds for the birds, it reminded me they needed to be filled...I have lots of suet out, suet and peanut butter too, but I usually fill these two with a mixture of just seeds and pb. Looks so inviting with the 'snow caps'...won't be long before the birds will find these...

 I don't usually post 'busy' pics, but this one is cute, caught the Chickadee, leaving the suet ball, note to self  'move the wooden butterfly on the fence'...ha...

These two were enjoying the sun yesterday, and didn't seem to mind the cold temperature, when the second one decided to leave, the other one followed..

Breaking the record...

Just an update on our Northern Ontario January Deep Freeze...
7:45 a.m.....hopefully this is as low as it will go this year.

Baby, its cold outside...

Another cold one, supposed to break by Monday...hopefully..I am getting cabin-fever..ha!
My pooch has the right idea, she goes out, does her business, runs back in and straight to the gas fireplace in the rec room...and she can't get any closer to it..:)

Haven't posted any pics of  "Blondie" lately, took a drive out last week, and seeing it is just too cold this week with the windchill will post a few from the visit. Hoping to get out to get more when this bitter January weather breaks,

 It was cold enough that day, and they were standing close to the fence, so couldn't get the shot I wanted, but this fellow below is the newest member to the
group..he was born in July, and this was my first up close visit with him, and he didn't know what to think of my camera, his eyes got big and he was so curious, but he did let me pet him and I promised him I would be back. He is a sweetie.
I didn't see the owner to ask him his name, he had told me in the early fall but I have forgotten...need to write it down. :)

A colder day today...

An update on my coldest temperature of '10 - '11, this morning it was -34 C. or
-29.2 F. And with the windchill it was -40C. Had to go out early so it did kind of 'take your breath away'.. although it has warmed up to -29C. right now.
How low will it go ?? ;)

Ice fishing is big in Northern Ontario..

Our son loves it and gets out whenever he can, his brother-in-law has one of these huts set up on a lake, and I am told it is quite comfortable inside, some have a small wood stove and seats to sit and wait. The point is that they make a hole through the ice with an ice auger, and drop their fishing lines down with bait on it, and wait !! I assume this one has a small woodstove, with the pipe showing. Click on pics to enlarge...too..

 Caught these fellows on Porcupine Lake getting set up, the fellow on the right is actually checking his lines right now, and you can see the sticks sticking out of the ice in a few other places where they also have lines down, there is usually a Tip-up, on the line which sometimes has a bell or a flag on it, to let you know a fish is nibbling..and you can bring the line in, hopefully with a fish on the other end. :) We have went a few times with our friends and I have actually caught a good size fish, I will have to dig out the picture. ha!
I love this pic too as it shows a skidooer in the background, flying across the frozen lake.. it is currently -18 C. with a windchill of -26 C. so this picture truly shows a fun day in Northern Ontario and how 'tough' we are !! lol...

And so it begins 2...

Back on Dec.10/10, I posted a pic of my outdoor thermometer, it hasn't been colder since, (it has been colder with the windchill, but not on the thermometer) but this morning upon getting up, I noticed it had gotten quite cold over nite. So today is an update on our 'coldest days' for winter of '10-'11. It is a balmy -29 celcius or -20.2 F....It will get colder before it is finished..

A beautiful January...

It has been an absolutely beautiful January so far, yes cold at times, but not what we are used to for January...it will catch up with us but for now, we will enjoy it..and the snow, frost laden trees and bushes are so beautiful..

the outside rink!! Love it, driving around this year, I have noticed quite a few of these, and it is nice to see, the kids out skating and playing hockey with their friends...it reminds me of 'my generation'...good times!!
