A few shots at..

Gilles Lake today, the ice is finally breaking up on this small lake in the middle of town, the ducks, pigeons and seagulls love this spot. The kids feed them often and enjoy their antics.
this is the first set of ducks I have seen on there this spring and of course the pigeons keep an eye on everyone in case we drop a bit of food for them...

Easter weekend...

Had a great weekend, our two youngest grandchildren were baptized last evening, a beautiful service, and so nice to have it done on Easter, makes it even more special to me..
a family brunch today and a short drive later in the afternoon...

Today, A moose at Cedar Meadows enjoying the first days of spring and no snow...

 the gulls are patiently waiting for the ice to melt on Gilles Lake..slow this year...

 and this fellow takes flight when he sees me, 'there she is again, I am outa here'...ha!

Got a quick pic of this cutie on a local walking trail around Gilles Lake, she was a busy puppy and her owner was trying to get her to stay still, didn't ask, but I think she is a Samoyed, she'll be hot in the summer I bet!!

A ducky day...

Enjoyed my afternoon, went down by the river to see what I could find..I done good !!
Although they were all on the other side of the river, I was quite pleased with my first shots of the season!
A Male Common Merganser...

 He took off so I managed to get him flying...

 Here are 2 male Common Merganser and the 'brown tufted' female too..

 I managed to get this couple as they were taking off too, a male Hooded Merganser ( female in the front)

 Although this one reminds me of a male and female Mallard, the purplish head on the male is throwing me off, and I can't see it in my books, any ideas??

The old and the new....

This 'last years' cattail with 'this years' buds starting on the nearby bush, caught my eye today...a welcome sight...

Mr and Mrs Mourning Dove...

in my backyard tonite before supper... I have mentioned having this pair around our yard before,
I love their mournful call and enjoy their company. I don't think they will nest in my yard though, because of the pooch, but they do come back often to my feeders and I am happy with that arrangement!

Although the ice is still on the lake..

the gulls and pigeons can't wait for spring, for the 'walkers' to start feeding them. Gilles lake is a
popular spot in the nicer weather, it is a small lake and has a walking trail around it, about 2 km. round.
There are plenty of gulls, pigeons and ducks in the warmer weather, and are well fed by people dropping by and enjoying the scenic spot. It stll is quite frozen but won't be too long, before the ducks will return, have young ones and we can all enjoy watching them grow...but for now...

A change of pace...

Forced to get out and find some "RUST" for the theme of a great Photography Club, I belong to...
enjoyed the search and the finds...the first 3 are with my macro lens...love macro...and now, Rust too. :)

The Elk grabbing a snack at...

Cedar Meadows Wildlife Park today... A beautiful sunny, warmer day...couldn't resist getting out and seeing what I could find to shoot. There is still a fair bit of snow, another week or more probably to melt it all, but won't be long now before we have lots to shoot again....

This fellow was so friendly, he is a young one and very trusting..
I caught a few of him, was right at the fence with me and loving the attention...

 I loved this one when I downloaded it, wish it was clearer, couldn't focus in the bright sun with my p&s... love the 'eye' !!
