Meet Thumper...

Special Constable Thumper is a 14 year old Standard Bred Mare,
shown here with Constable Brad Palmer of the Timmins Police.
With the advent of the 100th anniversary, of both the City of Timmins and the Timmins police service,
it was decided to have a mounted officer at various community celebrations and events this year.
So a partnership was established with the Timmins Therapeutic Riding Association and the Timmins
police service.
Formerly a harness racer, she has also been used as a therapeutic riding horse since she was two.
Being very gentle and accustomed to crowds and children, she will be used in strictly a ceremonial role
It was a real treat for me to catch up with her at the Kayak Challenge along the Mattagami River Park on Saturday.

A glance at Cedar Meadows this past week...

Noticed these muscular fellows in the park, might be Clydesdale's, not sure..

Also these two baby Elk are most welcome, mom steered them away when I stopped the truck, but nice to see the additions to our wilderness park.

Farm Friends...

Took a quick drive out to a few of the local farms yesterday,
Here is "Blondie"....he has been on my blog before, he always rushes over to me, I think,
he may think my camera is 'food'...lol A newbie to me, I call him "Black Beauty"....

This fellow couldn't of cared less if I was standing there waiting, he just would not look up!
I called, whistled, made weird noises and no way, he just went on eating, oh well, next time.

Mystery Solved....

Back on July 21, I posted a few pics of this breed of horse, from a local farm in the area. This past weekend, we had Kayak races and festival here in town, and they also had fun stuff for the younger crowd such as face painting, a few rides and of course, horse rides. Recognizing the horses as that same breed, (they are not from the same farm though) I asked the owner, what type of breed they are. I was pleased to find out they are called Norwegian Fjord's. They are a small but very strong breed originating in Norway. They are definitely a beautiful horse!!

Do you want to know a secret...

Love the coloring on this couple !! I have never seen coloring like this, the black strip along the mane is so different. Wonder what kind of horses they are? Update...the breed of these horses are "Norwegian Fjord"...a small but very strong breed from Norway.

A visit with two girls today...

Went out for a visit with Blondie and these two colts, have enjoyed watching them grow up big and strong...
they were 'resting' when I got there, but by the time I was out of the truck and up to the fence, they were interested in me too. First time I have been this close to them, and really enjoyed it.

A bright sunny day, so of course the fence caused shadows on them, but still had fun petting them and having a little chat with them. They are so sweet.
Both were loving my attention !! :)One is a month and a half older than the other, but they are close in size and friendship !!

Love horses as I do all animals, not sure why this fellow has a blinder on his eyes, I think he can see a fair amount as he was moving around, any ideas, what the blinder is for?? Montanagirl, maybe??
