The last of my Newpost pics...

This is probably my favorite one, its just the tall grasses, surrounding the upper part of the falls, when we hiked up to the top, I was amazed to see how the ice had covered the grasses.

A huge rock and next a stump sitting out in the middle while the waters swirl around it, splashing up and freezing !

A few more 'ice crystals'..

A few more pics of the amazing process of the mist freezing at Newpost Falls,
here shows the actual mist, rising off the water, landing on the nearby trees and grasses
and freezing, it is early in the season.
These ice formations are from a stream coming down from the right of the pic and bouncing up onto the nearby branches and freezing.
Here is a fallen tree which is becoming laden with ice...strictly from the mist rising off the raging current and settling on its branches.

Newpost Falls..cont'd...

This time of year, below zero at nite, just above during the day, it seems, the ice crystals are starting to form on the surrounding rocks , trees, grasses of the Abitibi River and New Post Falls...breath-taking !

Took many more, will post a few more soon !

Newpost Falls...

A few kms. further, we came to Newpost Falls, this is a great spot,
the Abitibi River rushes over the falls, the sound is deafening, but so scenic !
Had a great day, took many pics, this time of year, the ice crystals are just starting to form
from the mist of the falls, which makes for beautiful shots, I enjoyed it so much,

A moss-covered root..on the trail.

Abitibi Canyon Generating Plant...

We took a drive up 200+ kms. North of Timmins, On. yesterday, got some nice photos,
will post over the next while..
This shows the bottom section of the power generating plant..
This is the Abitibi River, when needed, they open the 'gates' to allow water through
There were casualties during the initial building of the plant, a memoriam is set up to thank these men and women who lost their lives.
