The two who almost got away..

Notice the 'rear end' of this beautiful Raccoon, I was so ticked at myself, that I missed a perfect shot of him, I think a 'once in a lifetime photo op'
He was beautiful.. first one I had ever seen so close, we are starting to get
the odd one up here, I've heard, but I have yet to see one.

I had the perfect chance to get a nice capture of this fellow, too, but by the time the truck was stopped and I was ready he was heading into the bush..

  1. Well you know they are out there; and so..
another chance may come your way.

  2. It is very frustrating to be so close and then miss the opportunity! Sometimes, though, an even better shot will present itself and then you'll forget all about these almosts.

  3. That happens to me a lot too - It takes a few seconds to get the vehicle stopped - the window rolled down (if the mosquitoes are bad), get locked on the target, get focused - a lot of the time the opportunity is missed - except with Mule Dee - even nice bucks - they always stop and look, or run a bit and stop to look back. Not so with the Whitetail deer - They're on a dead run when we're still a quarter mile away - or further!

  4. I know the feeling – when we were in the Yukon we saw a lynx and by the time my camera was ready I could only see his rump – too late!
