I have been trying unsuccessfully for over 4 years to get a shot of one of these fellows, and today was the day, taken with my 100-400mm lens, handheld, didn't even take the time to set up my tripod as I didn't want to miss a shot, so pleased !!

Well you should be pleased. These are supurb shots! Now you will probably see them all the time and get lots of shots. It seems like it happens that way. I wish we had the Pilated Woodpecker here.

Thanks Elaine and Jen, I was so pleased for sure, it was a real 'quest' for awhile now, so not sure what to go after next !! Maybe some babies in the spring will be nice too !
