Spring is here!!!

For the last few years, in January, I 'plant' this fellow in the back snow bank, so I can get excited about
having the snow melt and it tells me,  spring is finally here...
Well this is the week...
He peeked his little eyes out on the weekend...

 and with just above the freezing temperatures, today he  is 'smiling'...and so am I...

Woodpeckers galore...

The woodpeckers were abundant too..
the Male Hairy, was trying to ignore me, notice the eyes closed,

 and the Female Hairy too...

 Notice the 'blonde' mustache on the male, kind of neat...

 The Male Pileated was hungry too,

 also a female,  she said, 'thats it!, I am outa here! '

Another oldie...

As in the last post, the year was 1966, this one goes back even farther, not sure when but I would guess maybe the early 1900's, any one have a closer guess?
It was taken in Cobalt, Ontario, a small town, a few hours, south-east of  Timmins,
can only imagine living in that time...

Where were you on....

May 11, 1966...My daughter lucked in and found this old Timmins newspaper, at a local second hand shop. Hubby and I were 17, didn't even know each other, Timmins area is his home town, he actually joined the Air Force shortly after this date, which through time would bring us together, and the rest is 'history'!!
It was neat to see the prices of groceries, vehicles, and more. It was a trip back in time for us all...

This pair of Mourning Doves have been around the neighborhood for the last few years..regulars at my feeders. Today they are enjoying the warmth of the spring sun..not sure which is the male or female..

Grooming the trails...

Yesterday while at Hershey lake, I had another treat to see!
H.L., besides having awesome bird feeders, they have kilometers
of walking, skiing or snowshoeing trails. Hubby and pooch were
with me so we took a walk, upon hearing a snowmobile in the distance, hubby grumbled that they shouldn't be allowed on the trails as many people walk and walk their dogs on these trails daily and could get hurt. As the noise of the machine got nearer, we realized it was actually the groomer who keeps the trails 'walkable' after a snow fall. So all was forgiven!! :)

Of course, Pooch doesn't stay on the cleaned trails!! :)

Another snow day...

Caught the Hairy and of course the Pileated, there were two of them but only one came into the tree while I was there. It was a real treat for me !! :)
