May 11, 1966...My daughter lucked in and found this old Timmins newspaper, at a local second hand shop. Hubby and I were 17, didn't even know each other, Timmins area is his home town, he actually joined the Air Force shortly after this date, which through time would bring us together, and the rest is 'history'!!
It was neat to see the prices of groceries, vehicles, and more. It was a trip back in time for us all...

Oh, what a neat find! I bet you had a blast looking through it. Beef...52 cents and a Ford for $147. Times have sure changed since then! It makes a person wonder what gas prices would have been. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool. I'll bet you found the prices to be quite different then to now!
ReplyDeleteLove old newspapers. It was a neat find. I was a week shy of my 4th birthday on that date. We had just returned from England and were living in Mobile. I think my dad was getting ready to be stationed in Pakistan (USAF) for a year, leaving my mom to raise 4 kids. (Yes, she survived.) :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun find! The prices I saw are shocking!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting find! Where was I? Seattle, one baby and another on the way, and just bought our first house for $14,500.
ReplyDeleteNeat to hear your stories everyone, glad you enjoyed this one!
