Oh these are terrific shots! We don't see those here. I still have a couple Blue Jays coming to the yard - saw them again today after about a 4 day absence. Thought they'd left me!
Lovely! Yes, the gray jays are definitely piggy. When I see one taking off with a ping pong ball sized piece of suet I want to holler at him, but it'll be stashed away for another day, so I guess it's all good.
Thanks everyoone, I enjoy the Gray Jay, they are much easier to shoot than the Blue variety. Not quite as skittish, and will come right in and take food out of your hand. Ted, these were taken at Hershey Lake, it is a conservation area and walking trails. When it is quiet, I can get within 6'to 8' of the birds easily, zoom in and then I usually crop a bit too. I make suet for my own feeders so I always take some with me, to fill the suet log, (others do too), and I take peanuts and sunflower seeds too. Most of the varieties are quite comfortable with me there...
