If you recall from last summer, I mentioned feeding the 'Northern Flying Squirrels' at camp,
well, they are back in full force, and know where to get the peanuts, we have 3 or more coming right now, and I love their antics. If you aren't familiar with these fellows, they are nocturnal,
and have a layer of skin down each side, with which they 'glide' from tree to tree, not really flying, but does look like they do.
This is a good shot of the side skin with which they glide..

I've never seen a flying squirrel before although I've heard of them. Great shots ! Good luck on capturing one 'in flight' !
ReplyDeleteI have never seen one of these either. It would be fun if you could catch one in flight! How's that working out for you? LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks Rick and Mona! I need luck to catch them in flight, Rick, but I will try, I think it will be awhile before I get that one, unless I get mighty lucky. It will take planning and luck, Mona for sure!! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are very good shots. I especially like the last one where it looks like he is slyly peering up at you. I think any shot of a nocturnal animal would be difficult, but catching him in midair would be particularly hard. I hope you manage it though, because it would be a great shot.
ReplyDeletewow...great pics!! i've never seen a flying squirrel in the wild before...don't know what i would do if i saw one jumping close to me..a pic of that would be quite humourous...lol..
